About The Role

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Quality Managers to ensure the Quality department is working effectively and efficiently within the production chain with the aim to provide accurate information to our suppliers and deliver a good quality product that meets our customer expectations.  You will work closely with Quality Managers to ensure the Quality department is working effectively and efficiently within the production chain with the aim to provide accurate information to our suppliers and deliver a good quality product that meets our customer expectations. It will be your responsibility to supervise and support the Quality control of incoming raw material through to positive release to customer. You will also be senior member whilst on shift and need to perform all duty’s at a higher level than QCs, positioning yourself as a point of reference for QCs. You will be required to supervise all team activity’s and ensuring that practices and procedures are being adhered to and workload is being performed to a sufficient standard and speed.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Work alongside Quality Manager on all daily QC activity’s ensuring all operational areas are covered and QC team is working to a sufficient standard and speed
  • Take responsibility in absence of Quality Manager on weekends/ Holidays etc.
  • Support, organize and delegate work for colleagues..
  • Identify staff training on Quality procedures and Product knowledge highlighting any areas of concern to Quality Manager/Quality Trainer.
  • Ensure Quality inspection reports of all incoming raw material to supply base and procurement team through AMT reporting system are completed.
  • Ensure any serious quality issues found are reported to Quality Manager/ Technical Manager at the earliest possible stage.
  • Record any deviances in colour coding during the process and report to operations and technical teams.
  • Take responsibility for QC reports, downgrades or other QC queries in absence of QC administrators.
  • Monitor the Quality of the produce in storage through stock re-evaluations.
  • Supervise the Quality, labelling and product integrity prior to dispatch to the customer - i.e. QA out loading/positive release. All to be conducted within set procedures and protocols, when required.
  • Monitor stock rotation and allocations. Reporting any issues to operations.
  • Ensure samples both for customer and testing are collected.
  • Manage the AMT quality data base, to ensure all arrival information is kept up to date and distributed to relevant departments.
  • Assist and work alongside Quality Manager in staff rotas and shift patterns.
  • Assist and support trainer as a training buddy with trainings or refreshers given to AMT employees.
  • Carry out monthly one to one reviews against agreed KPI’s, training and current performance
  • Conjunction with Quality Manager, perform end of year performance reviews of QC’s as part of the appraisal system.
  • Maintain “watching brief” on site issues such as Health and Safety and Hygiene and report any issues promptly to the Quality Manager or H&S Rep.
  • Keep appropriate level of communication within QC or other departments by reporting all issues.
  • Monitor site rules, personal and hygiene standards.


About You

  • Full driving licence (Confident Driver)  
  • IT Literate (Intermediate level in excel/word)
  • Supervisory experience of a large team is highly beneficial
  • Previous experience in a quality assurance role is essential (experience within fruit industry would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures.
  • Experience within a production environment.
