About The Role

As a Quality Controller you will ensure all products at intake or Packhouse are under customer specification and ensuring that practices and procedures are being adhered to as well as participate in Taste Panel as required.
Role and Responsibilities: 
  • To inspect incoming raw material and finished product in accordance to AMT colour coding system, summary specification/tolerances and set Quality control procedures. This requires lifting 18kg boxes to inspect the fruit on the pallet.
  •  Ensure any serious quality and non-quality issues found are reported to the Senior qc at the earliest possible stage.
  • Any problematic loads please ensure you record manual onto the ECR paperwork
  • Monitor and record any deviances in colour coding during the process and report to Senior qc
  • Perform routine internal analysis i.e. sugar/acid ratios, Juice content tests, recording information on the tablet.
  • Monitor and manage the Quality of the produce in storage through stock re-re-assessments.
  • To inspection line packing both raw materials, finished product and class 2 grade out and assisting line leader as and when required.
  • Monitor and re-train sorters online during the packaging process as and when required.
  • Complete and verify on-line label/packaging/weight/count checks in accordance to QMS procedure.
  • To collect samples both for customer and testing. Ensuring product meets requirements for set samples.
  • To record intake inspection, downgrades, finish product, class 2, dump and on-line paperwork checks on to tablet / software – Husky programme
  • To carry out any other requirement within the role as and when instructed by Technical /Quality assurance management.
  • Keep appropriate level of communication within QC or other departments by reporting all issues or requirements to relevant people.
  • Keep the site rules, personal and general cleanliness on appropriate level of work.

About You

  • Candidate requirements: 
  • Previous experience in a quality assurance role is beneficial
  • Experience within fruit industry would be an advantage
  • To be comfortable working in conditions between 0 degrees and 12 degrees
  • IT literate 
  • Excellent communication skills both one to one and in group sessions.
  • Effective time management, being able to effectively deal with workload.
  • Good numerical and literacy skills
  • Good accuracy & attention to detail
  • Good at meeting deadlines
  • Good planning & organisational skills
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make quick/correct decisions in difficult situations.

About Us

AMK is a newly created business owned by AM FRESH to manage the packing, warehousing and distribution of products to Tesco within the UK. We have built a new state-of-the-art chilled food facility in Peterborough which is expected to employ around 500 people and around 350 agency staff a day operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a 4on 4off shift pattern.

We are proud to have supported Tesco with their Citrus, Grape and other fresh fruit and vegetable offering for a number of years and this new facility and partnership takes this relationship further as we look to expand our product range with Tesco for the next 10 years.
