About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing business at our new state-of-the-art chilled food facility currently being built in Peterborough dedicated to packing a range of imported fresh products for Tesco. The new facility is expected to employ around 300 people. 

We are proud to have supported Tesco in their Citrus, Grape and other fresh fruit for a number of years and this new facility and partnership takes this relationship further, expanding our product range with Tesco into vegetables.

To monitor, verify and report all aspects of fruit quality through intake, packhouse and dispatch reporting accurately any deviation from specification. Review of stocks during storage and accurate recording of all functions.

Main roles and responsibilities:-

  • To inspect product on arrival to determine quality of product, document and record findings accurately.
  • Ensure any problem loads are dealt with in a timely manner and reported to senior QC/Manager
  • Perform routine internal analysis (titrations)
  • To inspect and supervise the dispatch of product to customers, verifying all product meets the required specifications and labelling requirements prior to dispatch (positive release)
  • To engage in the monitoring of the product throughout its shelf life and report any issues noted to the appropriate people
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the goals of the department are achieved on a daily basis and the working environment remains clean and safe.
  • Collect samples for residue testing and customer sampling as requested by the Technical / Commercial team.
  • Completion of records around kit control, environmental monitoring, traceability etc.
  • To ensure that all quality control weighing equipment is checked in accordance with the weighing check procedure and entered accordingly in the weighing equipment check record.
  • To ensure that all QC equipment is maintained and used in the correct manner, and returned to the appropriate storage point at the close of shift.
  • To ensure personnel procedures (eg reporting absences, completing holiday/sickness/absence forms, etc) are followed at all times within set timescales.
  • To undertake any training deemed necessary to meet the Company’s and personal performance and development requirements.

  • Previous experience working within a Quality or Fresh Produce role.
