About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance to join our growing Finance team at our Alconbury site. As the Head of Finance you will be an integral part of the Senior Finance Management team, reporting to the Finance Director and leading the site finance team. 

In this role you will be a catalyst for opportunities and change through timely and effective analysis as well as process review, change and implementation.  

As part of the role you will provide insight, analysis and understanding of commercial, operational and financial performance, ensuring that realistic and clear budgets, forecasts and targets are set to optimise financial delivery.

Job duties and responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership and direction for the site finance team
  • Champion and drive the business budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Communicate weekly and monthly performance to both internal and external stakeholders, identifying key areas to focus on and improve for future periods
  • Manage the production of daily and weekly business KPI reports
  • Fully support the reconciliation of costing assumptions versus actual business performance, challenge deliver and/or amend costing assumptions as relevant
  • Manage the accrual and delivery of commercial rebates with customers and suppliers
  • Capex and project appraisals, monitoring actual costs/performance against agreed expectations
  • Support the wider Finance teams in delivering best practice across all business and ensuring that financial reporting is as effective as possible
  • Support the improvement of ERP and system reporting

About You

To be successful in this role you will be or have: 

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Excellent internal customer communication skills, with strong I.T ability and data modelling, mining, and evaluation skills.
  • Experience of direct line management and demonstrated leadership capabilities 
  • Experience of ERP Systems (Desirable not essential)
  • Experience of driving positive change 
  • Demonstrated operational and commercial experience from past role(s)
  • Excellent communication skills including interpreting financial information for non-financial managers
  • Confident liaising and influencing our key stakeholders but equally the front-line leaders and operators on site.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Finance regulations and standards
  • Experienced in analysing, problem solving ,forward thinking and proactively deliver continuous improvements 
  • Ability to review and understand where core processes may be adversely affecting the business from time/cost view and implement changes for the better where necessary
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Able to make pragmatic and commercial decisions to support the business strategy
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

With over 90 years committed to delivering quality fresh food at scale, AM FRESH UK, owned by the AM FRESH Group and based in Alconbury, is currently building their own state of the art facility – fresh, new and ready to showcase a variety of high-tech automation to serve the packing of fresh fruit and vegetables to major retailers. The business has invested heavily in to this facility which further demonstrates the growth plans for the Group. AM FRESH employs around 500 people and around 250 agency staff a day operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a 4o4o shift pattern.
